:) A perfect day with a clear blue, sunny sky. The temperature started at -6c and rose gradually to a mid-afternoon max of 8c. A lovely sunset and now clear, moonlit evening with the current temperature falling at 3c.

Another cloudless day after a cloudless and frosty night. The min' here was -3.8c which, in the absence of a deep, cold air mass, isn't bad going but a serious inversion has developed this afternoon. The max' here was 5.9c and, after an initial fall in temp' around sunset it has since risen to 4.0c. Unless the inversion breaks down I can see the minimum tonight getting no lower than about -1c.

At 1800;

Temp', 2.2c

Min' last night, -3.8c

Max' today, 5.9c

Grass min', -11.0c

Rainfall 0900-1800, nil

Sunshine today, 8.40 hrs

Mean wind speed 8 mph W

Highest gust today, 15 mph SW at 1158

Less than 1 okta cirrus

Vis', 12 miles

    Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

    The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
