After the rain last night, clear periods followed allowing the temperature to fall low enough for a touch of ground frost. Minimum air temperature 2.5c, grass minimum –0.5c. Currently at 09:00hrs bright with sunny spells and a moderate southerly wind. The morning continued with sunny spells and it felt very pleasant in the early spring sunshine. The afternoon saw more cloud with a couple of brief hail showers. The evening saw a clearing sky for a time before strong winds and rain arrived after midnight. Maximum temperature 10.5c.

You have rain with a sleety mix? Where's my sleet?

Why is it that anywhere from Walsall northwards gets that kind of weather?

But you are right, and in my speculative mode, the centre of the LP is nearby. Watching the low level stratus shift in the last couple of hours move NE to NW direction, it's very close so expect the barometric pressure to drop slightly further in the next few hours.

Haven't seen the likes of this since October 1987 and January 1990.
