From early January to early March 1928, it was largely mild and at times, stormy. Then on the 4th of March, high pressure developed to the north of the UK and this heralded a shorty wintry blast, the first real wintry spell since late December 1927.

Cold easterly winds brought low temperatures and snowfalls to some parts but it was short lived and after mid month it became milder again

    10th-14th March 1928 CET: 0.8

The 11th of March was a particularly cold and wintry day, here is from the Times of the 12th of March 1928

Just look at those hedgerows and tiny fields! Bet they're all great prairies now or been built on :unknw: Lovely pictures.

Never mind March snow, there's been lying snow 3 or 4 times on my mother's birthday, the 2nd May, in Sussex too (although we used to live 700 ft asl) — I remember because she hates the stuff and would complain bitterly.

Same with my mum, absolutely hates snow, although she was born in Jan 1931 during a blizzard (a propper one)apparently.
