I love taking photographs of rough weather and interesting scenery, I nearly got blown away completely taking some of those. Truth be known it was only the weight of the camera that kept me on the ground :drunk:

I prefer variety myself, as long as the variety does not include dull cold weather.

Russ, neither comment tells you why though and has as much feeling and thought put into it as saying good morning to the post man everyday for the last 20 years

I do like your shots, I particularly like the last seagull shot - I'm not sure if you had to take loads to get it at the right moment with wings extended and food in its mouth?

Do you find photography on the island is restrictive because of the number of places available to take shots? I look back at stuff I've taken and its very Eastbourne orientated and mainly coastal (of course!) even though I have instant access to the whole of the UK when I jump in the car.

Arr well :)

Glad you like the shots, It took six to get the gull.

Photography on the Island is always interesting, not got bored yet. The only thing we have not got is mountains, but the chalk downs make up for that

Glad the pictures are liked, thank you for the nice replies. :)

The second last one is Freshwater Bay and the sea was a boiling mass of spray an foam, very enjoyable :o

Whilst photographing the Needles I actually stayed behind the safety fence, it was the zoom lens that made it look like I didn't. If I would have climbed over the fence reckon I would have been a goner, the wind was recorded at 95mph at the Needles according to our local paper, the County Press.

The Needles got there name from the spire known as Lott's wife, which fell into the sea in 1764. With modern everyday technology it is possible to show this fallen spire:- post-4726-1205708904_thumb.jpgpost-4726-1205708970_thumb.jpgpost-4726-1205708985_thumb.jpg The middle one is without just for comparison.

No doubt these shots would create a stir if people from the Island find them without the above explanation :o

Regards,

Russ.
