aahh. Thanks mate, it makes sense now :) . But what does the z stand for?

z Stands for local time. That report was probably from a local airport. In aviation, time is never put forward or backward when we all change our watches. Therefore in summer pilots etc are still operating on winter time i.e an hour behind. This is the reason why the z is added i.e the measurement taken at the local time.Hope that makes some sense?!

    Is that Heading Manchester way?

Or will it just travel down the East coast, can't make my mind up :?

Quite possibly. I'm sure you will get something before too long. We had a period of sleet at about 4-5pm and it cleared after then. This cloud and snow seems to have appeared out of the blue, no reason why it won't do the same in Manchester at some point.
