Just made my way back from Edinburgh, snow flurrys and soft hail the whole way back, the car thermometer read 8-10c in most of the showers. Just been hit by a heavier shower here which tried to turn the ground white but the ground temperature is just too high.

Absolutely barrelling down here in the Vanoise. 30cm since lunchtime. We had to put the Pewags on to get back through Villeneuve this afternoon and the ploughs are out in force. Even in Briancon the snow was settling on the road and on the way down from PSV a car had slid off the road and rolled into what was fortunately a fairly densely wooded slope. Not fancying the drive across the Col du Lauteret tonight. Quite a change from 6 days ago. Something like a 20C drop in temps.

not really sure if this is the place to post this but thought it should be told. just had the most bizarre weather. storm clouds gathering for about the last hour then about 10 minutes ago it broke, we had a rapid hail/snow storm, with it settling on the roads and grass, faint gathering of white everywhere, car alarms going off. to accompany this had brief thunder and lightening, knocked our power out and was interupting the phone lines. i live in buckingham, which is near milton keynes. wonder if any one else is experiencing this weather today! x

Hi all

At 8am we had a terrific snow storm, really large flakes and blizzard conditions that lasted...4 minutes lol  . There was no accumulations as such partly becuase the wind blew it all away and partly becuase the shower dind't last long enough. Since then we have had rain showers with 1 hail shower about 1 and a half hours ago. Has anyone actually got any accumulations as of yet in the UK worth talking about?

PS- i thought it would feel colder than it is-there is a keen wind but still doesnt feel that cold...

Few very light wintry showers here this afternoon, not enough to send the gritters out for yet! lol. Temp 2.4oC, feels colder in very strong wind. Hopeful for more persistent snow on Saturday night into Sunday morning for this area...I shall keep my fingers crossed

Showers have died off a bit this afternoon and wind has eased a touch although still steady at 40-45 knots gusting 50-60knots!

Local forescast for tonight is warning of several cms by morning with possible drifting in the high winds which should moderate through the early hours.
