I would say 8.2C as the first part of the month looks quite cool but I have every faith that a good warm spell later on in the month could nudge things up a bit.

Not giving mine until the weekend, however, i expect April 2008 to be very different to the exceptional April 2007, probably much more like April 2006.

If it gets to mid April and it's not at least 9.0°C then you have my permission to laugh at me, afterall 10.0°C is very bizarre but I'm sticking by it because it's just a bit of fun.

Northern blocking to become the main theme but that doesn't mean cold cold cold...but it will prevent any real warmth. So I will punt for a bang on average 8.1C. I think first good warmth will come very late but mainly into May.

I haven't put much work into this because of vast complications in my non-weather life, but would like to park my wagon at 9.7, for one thing, there's nobody near that and my wagon needs airing out big-time.

with the credit crunch meaning that people are able to afford to buy oil or gas anymore - this will naturally lead to a reduction in exothermic fossil fuel heat entering the atmosphere across the world.

this is to kick in around April 1st and last for about 4 weeks.

so go for a cool 6.8C for April

7.9c for me - just below average.

Presumably the wamring of April as a month in recent years is indicative of earlier spring/summer in the UK - likewise the warming of Sept is indicative of a delayed onset to Autumn. I'm going for a more traditional CET year hence the punt at just below average.

I have no idea what the weather has been doing in Blighty for the last few weeks - nor what it will do in CET land, but as I sit in a very warm Cypriot internet cafe my guess is

8.9

please

I expect April to come in slightly above average at 8.2 degrees. I think the majority of the month will probably be quite cool with either chilly anticyclonic conditions or rainy cyclonic conditions.

However, i think the end of the month could well be rather warm making up for the rather cold conditions.

Not expecting any records to tumble temperature wise, however there perhaps may be a proctacted spell of night frosts if the northern blocking progged later next week embeds itself firmly, some localised low nightime minima could well occur then.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
