Seen two stragglers today,Most of the birds left 2 weeks ago. What we do have is flocks of sparrows which has to be a good thing after the pounding they took from some type of flu strain that decimated the population of birds.

Thought this might interest some folk here, it's a site for recording events like Swallow arrivals, when they leave, trees budding, leaf fall etc. You can both register your sightings and check out countrywide results for the last few years.

This morning there were approximately 2000 Swallows twittering away as they sat, South facing, on power lines across a field in the village I was working in.

Shame you didn't foto that - I would have loved to have seen it !!

Four in my garden today - welcome back !!

Teach me not to look properly!!!

I'd started another thread (maybe the mod's could combine them?) 'cause I had a very early sighting 2 fridays back (9 Swallows feeding over Hebden Water) but not seen any since.......seem as rare as a con-trail hereabouts!!!

I've seen 4 separate individual over the last week here between Newport and Chepstow. Each one was resting, one on the top of a tree, the other three on telephone lines.
