Clear skies for a time last night allowed the air temperature to fall to –1.0c and the grass minimum temperature to –4.5c. Low cloud and fog developed in the area after 03:00hrs which lifted the temperature slightly and thawing the frost. At reading time, cold and overcast, with the fog thinning to mist. The morning continued mostly overcast with just a few bright intervals, the afternoon saw the cloud sheet break up to allow sunny spells, though with a cool feel in the moderate easterly breeze. The night started dry, but rain fell during the latter part to give 4mm before the end of the 24 hour period. Top temperature 9.9c

Sleet set in late yesterday evening and turned to snow by midnight, there was a period of moderate snow during the early hours with 5.5cm lying by 0300. As the snow cleared stratus lowered on to the hills to give thick fog, this eventually lifted into stratus by 0730. There was a short shower of rain and small hail at 0780 but the rest of the day was dry with sunny intervals until a few light showers of rain arrived by 1800. The lying snow had thawed by 1100.
