this invest is in cold waters so don't see it standing much chance

Quite right Cookie, if it does do anything (subtropical at best) then it will have to do it tonight as the waters get even colder on the northwards track tomorrow, as your chart demonstrates.

you can already see within a few weeks a drop in the temps around the US

Yup, the Carribean is the only place left to support a tropical cyclone now, but shear is high here now so development appears unlikely over the next week or so at least. Paloma could well have been the last Atlantic 2008 storm.

You can also see by looking at that chart the West Pacific cooling (particularly near Japan) and the waters around Australia really hotting up as Summer begins there.

All eyes to the southern hempshire then!

when do you think the action will pick up again?

do you think we will see much before christmas?

Hard to say, there's nothing out there at the moment after Anika and Bernard provided an early start. I would be surprised if we saw nothing before xmas but jan-mar is when it properly gets active.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
