As I am only just coming to terms with being able to predict what will take place above our heads in the UK, I find the prospect of trying to guess what will happen across Iberia near enough impossible (I'm that bad). I'm heading to Palma de Mallorca in just under a week and would be extremely grateful if someone could hazzard a prediction of what I should be expecting. The various forecasting sites seem to be somewhat varied to say the least, some predicting clear skies with 27'C for this coming Friday, others suggesting 21'C with rain showers. Admitidely I am normally more concerned with Franko's Italian weather station (that being my location of choice in Europe by a long shot) but this holiday is one with friends so I have to make do with night-club central Magaluf :/.

Thanks in advance :D

The weather should be fine and rather warm by our standards. It's cooler than normal in Spain at the moment but In the Balearic islands it looks like being mainly dry until next weekend (too far out after that).

PALMA

Mainly sunny and dry. The relative humidity seems to be about 70% so feeling rather humid though the constant breeze should hinder that a tad. Daytime temperatures likely to be between 28-32C and night temperatures between 20-24C.

BARCELONA

Much the same as Palma though the temperatures a tad higher during the day and lower at night due to the wind coming from inland. Mainly stable for the forseeable future.

Gerona (Barcelona) saw a min in single digits last night, indeed even at 10pm (prime time for eating Al Fresco) the temperature was 12C!

I bet many a holidaymaker on the Costa Brava was wondering what the hell is going on here.

For the 2nd night in a row minima have been well down into single digits at Gerona (Barcelona). Quite remarkable for a Spanish coastal station in mid Sept, especially considering the sea temps are still up around 26c.

An overnight min here of 18c below the current sea temp of 15c would be -3c, something that we rarely see in mid Winter let alone late Summer.

With an offshore wind and dew points only struggling into the low teens across inland nern Spain, those temps willl fall sharply at night in clear skies even on the coast. If the wind comes onshore then I'm sure the extra moisture and warmth from the Med will mean temps wouldn't fall as much.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?
