Looked at the data of a station around the west side in Lerwick and it got a gust around 75mph to 85mph.

sounds a bit extreme for this time of year though!

wind again here today with similar winds of 40 mph

Your warning was much appreciated cookie.

We were expecting winds to be strong but not as strong as they are.

Currently - average wind speed 58.7mph, highest gust 65.6mph. Not sure where it is heading but batten down the hatches and secure all garden furniture etc if it is headed your way.
