17.3C for me - above average, but only slightly.

The monthly CFS charts show an average month and unsuprisingly a mild winter and cold March.

Sticking to my thoughts that July will be the warmest month of the year, however, I feel a rather average CET is on the cards, so my guess is 16.6 degrees. It is going to be a month punctuated by short warm spells but predominantly an unsettled a rather average affair I fear.

Very heartening from one as distinguished as you Jackone! Are you punting with your head or your heart though? :D

Dave

Always go with my head, however judging by my overall position, I wouldn't listen to me. ;)

Hopefully we can have a warm one, i would like to think somewhere in the region of 18c but my head says different so given the synoptics for the next week or so i'll go for a coolish 15.8c :o

I'm going for 17.6C

Are you lot on the team all up to something? :)

I fancy you're all trying to force the odds on a cold July higher so that you can all dive in & make a killing :o

I'm on to you :)

Current CET is 18.0 upto the 2nd. This is about 1.7c above average for this point in the month.

CET from the 3rd-5th looks to be around 14.8c. By the 5th it's likely to be at 16.1c. Around normal. Does look s if it'll remain cool un the foreseable future. First half below average odds on.

How do you know its 18.0, when the figures for the 2nd haven't even been released?

I was using Metchecks CET that had it at 18.0c at the time I typed that. Now dropped to 17.2c.

Infact, Hadley has it as 16.9 for the 2nd.

Sounds a bit low to me!

16.3 C up to the 3rd. Should come down with a bit of a bump though.

I've noticed we've got the Max well above normal and the min well below normal here. Last night sticking the boot in. Overall below normal for us at the moment. Also 12.6C difference between max and min.

It'll be interesting to see how low the CET will drop over the next 7 days, could be a good 1 degree below average this next week or even below this, guess alot will depend on cloud cover during the day, nights could well be quite cool as I feel cloud levels will dissapate more at night rather during the day.

Next week is likely to kill any chance of this month coming in appreciably above average.

Yesterday came in at just 14.4C, meaning Hadley's running average is 15.8C to the 4th. The 1971-2000 average is 16.5C, so after today we could well be at that 1C below average mark and thats without all of next week! It must be remembered that July is still a warming month from start to end though, if you take the rolling average into account, we're probably around normal at present.

Nevertheless, I cant see this current coolness lasting to the end of the month. To get two cold Julys in a row (more than 1C below average) in this day and age would be remarkable (and unlucky), as it last happened in 1965/1966.
