Oooh I found a privet (I think) hawkmoth on the high street in Sleaford the other day. Had to move it to some nearby shrubs. Will hunt out the pics.

We often get the caterpillars on the ground lilac in our garden. They rock ;)

I like these picture very detailed. Many moths recieve bad press, which they don't really deserve. Some of them can be very colourful, and I agree with FP, caterpillars can be really interesting. I actually spotted a hairy moth caterpillar a few weeks ago, and let it crawl on my finger.. little did I know some caterpillars have poisonous spines in their hairs for defence purposes!

;) Thanks for sharing the pics Neil, very well taken.

    You should see the caterpillars!

We've had the caterpillar in several recent years, but I'm yet to see the moth.

Great pics, Neilsouth. Just hope I never see one in my bedroom at night. :o
