Overhead thunderstorm in Newbury at 1715 with some real close CG and a microburst of rain lasting 8 minutes. The rain was being blown from east to west on strong winds that gave it a tropical, monsoon-like feel.

Speaking to relatives near Thatcham (RG7 postcode) at 5.45pm, they had been in a deluge since 5pm and thought they had had "about 3 inches of rain and close to overhead thunder". They aren't usually ones to exaggerate, so it sounded pretty vicious!

thunderstorm passed over my house (cheltenham) around 17:45 - 18:30 very heavy rain, some nice lightning strikes. The air now nice a clear. I've a vid of a few strikes and some nice sounding thunder, but I doubt someone would have the patience to watch it

I've attached a pic of 2 vid frames blended together

Storms started here at 18:45, heavy downpour and it became very windy for a time. Now as it gets dark frequent lighting (to the south) and the odd rumble of thunder every few mins. Heavy rain still.

Edit 20:51 - Overhead lighting. Typical as i just came inside to type this report!!
