I was out today taking photos of a sun halo when I saw a large cat sat under a rock next to the small lake outside my village. I thought it was a domestic cat which was lost but when I went to see if it had a collar on it bit my hand and scratched my neck/face. It also gave out a growl like a tractor starting up. The cat then leaped up and ran into the bushes. I had an agonising 3/4 mile walk back to my house, where my dad put some cream on my hand and face. Then a wasp stung me on the same hand leaving in its sting giving me even more pain. Its hard to type now because my hand is so painfull and my finger is swollen.

I've looked on the internet for pics of the large looking cat. It was sandy red/yellow with ears pointing up. I found a dead rodent, the same size of a rat lying dead from where it was sitting. The only cat I've found that looks remotely like the one I saw was on this site.

I just hope I never encounter one again but if I do I'll try and get a picture without getting too close. The picture is after the cream so the redness and swelling is alot less than when I was first bit.

I would seriously suggest getting your hand/neck/face checked out by someone tomorrow. Even if you feel ok I would suggest a visit to a walk-in centre just to make sure you are up to date with your tetinus (sp) etc.
