There once was a bloke called ted,

who filmed lightning direct from his shed,

    one day he screamed YIKES,

    after several close strikes,

and now he hides under the bed.

    Lol :)

One spring day the big round sun

Winked at a cloud just for fun.

That dark gray cloud thundered and cried,

    Scattering raindrops on all outside.

But when the sun peeked out from a sunset low

Together they both made a gay rainbow!

    A Thunderstorm

A moment the wild swallows like a flight

Of withered gust-caught leaves, serenely high,

Toss in the windrack up the muttering sky.

The leaves hang still. Above the weird twilight,

The hurrying centres of the storm unite

And spreading with huge trunk and rolling fringe,

Each wheeled upon its own tremendous hinge,

Tower darkening on. And now from heaven's height,

With the long roar of elm-trees swept and swayed,

And pelted waters, on the vanished plain

Plunges the blast. Behind the wild white flash

That splits abroad the pealing thunder-crash,

Over bleared fields and gardens disarrayed,

Column on column comes the drenching rain.

    The Storm By Dean Thorpe.

Hear the thunder rumble, a sound from miles away

Is it getting nearer, or over for today

A flash of blinding light, electric in the skies

Looking out the window, it really hurts my eyes

After comes the rumble, the clash of cloud on cloud

Feel the floor vibrating, that one was really loud

Still more lightning flashes, it hit's the old oak tree

Lightning in the garden, now that's too close for me lightning.gif

The Storm by J. Herbert Presley

The boiling clouds flood the cauldron of the universe,

And spill into a crystal sky.

Lightening flashes in the looming darkness.

    Storm.

    Ominous. Wicked. Threatening.

Rain; curtain hiding a vicious finger.

Wind; blowing a cacophony of destruction.

In the mist a twisting, snakelike shadow.

    Storm.

    Writhing. Moving. Deadly.

    An aftermath of destruction, sorrow.

    Lives rammed into reality.

    Bodies smashed into ground.

    Storm.

    Remember. Fear. Anxiety.

People who will never be the same.

Memories that will live on forever.

    Fearful, struggling, because of

    Storm.

    How about a netweather anthem,

Need to have the tune 'i will survive' in your head whilst reading this:

    First I was afraid

    I was petrified,

by the cape and lifted index

    on the charts last nite

    those synoptics cant be right

    gfs must have it wrong

now the met have tagged along

and all the forums start to throng

    torro are back

    back on the case

theyve got warnings up to here

and nado’d up the goddam place

now estofex have set the clock

    and carols humdinging with glee

mr fish has just been beckoned

Christ i need to save my tree

    yes, i am mad.

Well as hurricanes are in the news, I thought I'd submit my own, very tongue in cheek, little ditty....

Entitled 'Honey, A English hurricane ate my dustbin'

to the tune of 'Sweet Home Alamba'

    (btw its bad!) :(

    "Big clouds keep on churning

Rain belts down upon my skin

    Stormy winds scour my garden

and blew away my new dustbin....aint that a sin, yeah

Well I heard Michael Fish talk about it

Only France will take direct hits

He forgot to watch the NW forecast

now my dustbin got blown to bits.....aint that the sh'ts?!

    chorus

    150 miles an hour

and the skies are so grey

    150 miles an hour

My dustbin has been blown away

In Birmingham, they got a soaking

    London & Manchester too

but my garden took a pounding

    my new dustbin?...yes it flew!

    chorus

    150 miles an hour

and the skies are so grey

    150 miles an hour

    My dustbin has blown away

Whoever wrote these lyrics must have a screw loose....erm, that would be me then :(

    :(

It is the Tornado Twist by 'Larry Brinkley and The Tornadoes' from the early 1960's (possibly 1962) He was a Tennessee rockabilly artist.

A little girl walked daily to and from school. Though the weather one morning was questionable and clouds were forming, she made her daily trek to the elementary school.

As the day progressed, the winds whipped up, along with thunder and lightning. The mother of the little girl was worried that her daughter would be frightened as she walked home from school, and she herself feared that the electrical storm might harm her child. Following the roar of the thunder, lightning would cut through the sky like a flaming sword.

Being concerned, the mother got into her car and drove along the route to her child's school. Soon she saw her daughter walking along, but at each flash of lightning, the child would stop, look and smile. One followed another, each with the little girl stopping, looking at the streak of light and smiling.

Finally, the mother called her over to the car and asked, "What are you doing?"

The child answered, "God keeps taking pictures of me!"

    The Storm

    James K. McAlister

    Wind rustled crunching leaves

    That on the sidewalk lay.

There was a big storm coming

    On a windy Autumn day.

    Thunder rumbled overhead

And shook me through and through.

A jagged bolt of lightning struck!

The sky then cracked in two!

Rain washed down the dirty road.

It hissed, and gushed, and muttered.

The downpour swept dead leaves away

    Into the bubbling gutter.

Oh how I miss the storms, It's been so long now
