It's shaping up to be a cracking start to Spring here.

Record high pressure to the east holding firm. Causing gales in the south and strong gusty foehn winds for many, along with heavy rain on the west.

Second day of the month and 20C has been breached again, this time with 22C at Alexandra (21C at Timaru yesterday).

In Wellington, windy, cloudy and 15C. Very typical Springtime weather it must be said.

As for UV, the clear sky UVI 4 isopleth has now moved south of Wellington, with the UVI 5 line firmly over the north island.

A cool, crisp and sunny morning in true autumn style - well the nice part of autumn anyway!

Nice to have unbroken sunshine for first time in weeks although do now need a light jacket in the mornings as temp fell to 13.3c (now 13.9c). It's usually a fine temp to cycle in just a t-shirt once you get going but the first 5 mins of my journey is all rolling downhill so no chance to warm up first!

Not so good down here in Hampshire this morning, it's been raining steadily since just after 2am and it looks set to to continue for another hour or two, cloud base is under 1000ft but at least the wind has eased off now. Temperature is 41 degrees.

Lovely start to the day.

Blue skies and a little nip in the air. Slightly damp fence slowly 'smoking away' in the heat of the sun.

Quite a beautiful Autuminal morning.

Now clouded over, but feeling still pleasent outside.

Well poor forecast for today so the weather is much better than expected. Sunny spells warm enough in the sun light winds. Got some gardening done noisy kids back at school so I can relax a bit. Get final bits done tomorrow.

Today has been a lot better than I expected so far; I have had some very nice sunny spells which have been very pleasant indeed.

When I saw the cloud arrive earlier, I thought it was going to be a repeat of the dull and gloomy sort of stuff I have had a lot of recently.

I happy with this

Got down to 5ºC last night - coolest night since 21st June.

Was lovely and chilly even at 8.30am coming to work - blue skies, calm and sunny with it. Oh lovely autumn

The rain cleared at dawn but the painfully slow clerance was highlighted by the sun not shining until about 09.30! No wonder it's still looking poor in the SE corner.

A really fine day though with good, sometimes hazy, sunny spells and a gentle W breeze. Temperature pushing 18c and showers beginning to develop to the W/NW.
