    Jane, your first pic, when was that taken? That is a massive anvil ;) which I guess stretched even further behind where you were! I love the striations on it.

    Yes, a very large anvil lol...I was quite suprised myself at the size.I took this photo on 13th August in the afternoon whilst caravanning.I have a lovely view of the whole sky there,better then I have from home.

    Here's a pic of a super anvil that my dad took on his mobile... This ended up a large storm later on that evening affecting torbay and exeter. Dad said it was one of the worst storms he's ever seen!....Certainly looks a bit of a beast!

    Hi just found this thread so i thought i'd add a few from the only storm to hit Newbury this year :D ,it struck at Tea time and lasted about thirty minutes,i only see cloud to cloud lightning? The rain was very intense and also had some hail.
