    Here's are a series of barometer readings taken on the island of Marie Galante near Guadaloupe on the 6th September 1865 as a hurricane hits

    4.00am: 1013.4mb

    6.30am: 1003.5mb

    6.47am: 987.8mb

    7.40am: 946.5mb

    Thats a drop of 41.3mbs in 53 minutes or a rate of decrease of 0.78mbs per minute.
