Hi All,

I've been a member here for a while, but pretty much just lurked in the background! Anyway, I've always been interested in all things weather related ever since I can remember. I'm a fairly keen weather observer (have a Davis Vantage Pro weather station - which is going to be moved this weekend, a boltek lightning detector (still in its box unfortunately) and also have a weather sat rx set up through EUMETCAST (although having some problems with my setup after moving house), and I want to have a go at some weather photography when I've saved up for a new DSLR)

I'd really like to expand my horizons a bit further, and learn a bit more about it all (even the complex maths/physics side of it all). As I'm sat in front of a computer ALL day long, I'd like some of your recommendations for books, downloadable pdf's (which I can print out and read at my leisure), and even distance learning courses.

I know there is a wealth on information on these very forums, but knowing where to start is like finding a needle in a haystack without knowing what the needle actually looks like!

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated

Thanks all,

Scoobie

P.S: Does anyone else here receive EUMETCAST data? I've not seen anyone mention it on here...

Hi Scoobie, what side of things are you looking to get more into, is it the model reading/forecasting side of things or more towards climate?

Re Eumetcast, I think a few receive it, so I'm sure someone will be along soon enough to talk about that!

I think to begin with, I'd like to learn about the model reading/forecasting side of things and then after I have grasped the basics of that will go on to more in-depth studies, and perhaps try to pick up an understanding of the climate arena along the way...

There is a distance learning course mentioned here: http://www.netweather.tv/forum/index.php?showtopic=48481

Although i think it will be pretty basic!

That course looks like a good starting point for me! Any suggestions on reading material anyone? I know there is a lot of information within these forums, and the guides but if that information could be collated into a single pdf for example and layed out in a logical format I would be happy to pay for it :-)

Thanks for the input so far everyone, lets keep it coming :-)
