Just had this confirmed.. A clip from the cairngorm mountain website.

The welcome return of the white stuff fell on Cairngorm Mountain today, 1st October, hopefully heralding a snowy ski and snowboard season. The forecast for the next few days is for a northerly airflow with lots of showers bringing snow down to 700m on hills at times.

;)

Have you got a link for those cams? They look new since last winter.

Any chance of this weeks snow sticking around for another week? I would guess not with milder wet weather forecast but I would like to have seen a bit when I go :)

At 8 pm Aviemore was 4C with heavy rain, so surely the Cairngorm webcams will look rather nice in the morning. Cairngorm mountain website forecast has snow showers failing down to 400m at times tomorrow morning.

Off to Snowdonia tomorrow for a wedding so i'll be keeping my eyes peeled for the slightest of dusting on Carnedd Llewelyn.

Not Snow report but heavy sleet report this morning on the Slug Road at Durris, lasted for about 10 minutes!! Just looked on the Cairngorm mountain website and they ahve a lot of snow!! Looks nice, cant believe winter is here again!!

That road gets to around 235m at it's highest point and gien how cold it feels in Aberdeen at the moment, sleet doesn't surprise me.

Hi Julian,

Very early for that amount to fall in 12 hours. Had an early base last year but came later in the Autumn period. No doubt mlider temperaures will soon melt the snow at lower levels at least, but nice to see. Cross country skiers already out making tracks through the pine trails.

Good Afternoon. Good views of Katschberg Mountain looking south. You can see that the piste/runs are well preserved on the North side. Snow Level , currently 1200M ASL. Forecast maximum temperatures for the next 3 days is 5C at 2000m and 12 at 1000m, so some melting expected below about 1800m over the coming days.

Note the pointed mountain ( middle of centre in the far back ground is Austrias highest peak, Gross Glockner )

nice shot Paul and shows up the snow on the runs well, also shows how well set up the pistes are to preserve snow
