:) I also took some photos yesterday, the sky was simply too beautiful to not take advantage and go for a sunset walk and enjoy a free colour show provided by various types of cirrus, cirrocumulus and altocumulus! I hope you enjoy looking at them.

1 and 2. These shots could be joined together if I was clever enough!post-107-1223754224_thumb.jpg

4. As one sets another rises

5. This was my favourite part of the sunset, amazing to have different colours at different levels

6 and 7. This altocumulus changed colour in about 5 minutes

I return the compliment with your pics, Andy! So much rotation and sheering going on with those first couple of clouds. Gorgeous. No. 1 my favourite.

Excellent pictures Andy! What a spectacle it was, there were loads of lenticulars around late in the evening. I think we both had quite a similar sunset. ;)

  • Chilly with an increasing risk of frost

Once Monday's band of rain fades, the next few days will be drier. However, it will feel cool, even cold, in the breeze or under gloomy skies, with an increasing risk of frost. Read the full update here

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
