The 23rd tropical cyclone of the West Pacific season formed yesterday, and has since been named Bavi. Intensity is currently at 40kts, and some additional intensification is possible in the next 24hrs. After which, Bavi will begin extratropical transition and colder waters and drier air greet the storm. As extratropical transition occurs, Bavi's windfield is likely to expand but probably not enough to provide rough weather to eastern Japan as it glides out to the northeast over the open North Pacific.

On the brisk northeastwards track, Bavi has moved over colder waters and become extratropical. Certainly a very short lived storm!
