Here's a table of temperatures recorded during the winter months of 1858-59 to 1880-81 at 9am at Camden Square in London

My first instinct on reading this table was surprise at the lack of sub-freezing averages, considering that 9am is not long after sunrise in Dec and Jan and thus I'd expect it to be not too far from the average minimum. I'm very surprised to find months with below-freezing CET averages recording above-freezing 9am temperatures (Decembers 1874 and 1878). However apart from these very cold months, there seems to be (at first glance) a distinct similarity between the monthly average CET and London's 9am temperature (which I'd expected to be closer to the CET minimum).
