I used to always predict a below average month and they were always above average. Since June I've been forecasting above average months and they have been below average. Coincidence? I think not!!

With that in mind, my punt is (in a Craig Evans style): 8.5c :D !!

Just kidding, I'll go for 4.6c, but if it comes in above average it's not my fault!

Well with the current patterns I definately wouldn't be going for above average! I'm saying that there will be a raw easterly around Christmas, giving some very low night time minima, and low daytime temps also.

So therefore i'm going for even colder than the NetWeather winter forecast and saying 4.1C

-2.3C ;)

To call that a bold call, TA, is like calling an F5 tornado a little breezy.

No December in the CET record (since 1659) has ever been colder than 1890's -0.8C - you reckon Dec 2008 will beat it by one-and-a-half degrees??!!

Not only would it be far and away the coldest December ever recorded, it would be the fifth coldest month ever recorded - beating even Jan 1963 - and the coldest month for nearly 200 years. It's even nearly half a degree colder than any February ever recorded!!!

Are you sure you don't want to quietly lose that minus sign? :)

TA, I think that may be a tad optimistic! Even +2.3c is pushing it these days ;)

The average for the Hale winters of the last century is 4.3ºC. So add in a little bit for warmer sea surface temps and I will go for 5.3ºC. This goes with what is happening on the ground at present as well. A cool start to the month, milder midway followed by a colder spell before Christmas and a mild New Year.
