Morning folks

Well its the first winters day in Central London, a wide spread frost, and it was quite a hard one in Lewisham, its first time the ice scrapper would have been needed (if I was going to use the car today). Pavements are very icy and quite dangerous at the moment.

Take care out there

Cheers

FC

Currently just over zero, after an overnight low of -0.5. DP -2, feels like -4. Pressure a steady 1000mb. WNW 12mph wind.

I am so glad I don;t live near one of those wind turbines! They apparently don't play nice in cold weather.

Coldest night of the season - down to -0.5c (nothing to some of you rural northern folk but quite chilly for a city centre in the midlands!). A good covering of frost and a lot of hidden ice around too - got to take care this morning. Clear skies with a golden orange sunrise. One great thing about December - seeing sunrises. About the only time I ever see them!

Now 1c.

A beautiful crisp, clear & frosty morning here.....Min temperature overnight dropped to -1.5C leaving a nice deposit of ice on the car...The pavements though are very slippy, hopefully tonight the council will get the gritters out!

-1C here in Hexham, Northumberland this morning. 7th consecutive air frost although warmest night of the 7 only -1C (and it's that now). Light dusting of snow overnight - shower from NE coast must have got this far sometime overnight.

Looking forward to tomorrow morning - I think we are well placed. Not too near a coast, well north and a little bit of altitude.

Great winter so far!

John

Yes temperatures very supressed here in the SE ( Im in bexleyheath as well)- The roof of all the local houses are still frosty-

Im not expecting a lot from the overnight front, but rather hoping we can get some leading edge snow-

Just casting my mind back to the models as late as t-24 to the shortwave they had it tracking through Central England-

Whilst this secondary system is a lot deeper you never know more of a subtle shift south with each run will prolong the wintryness for us...

Heres hoping- waiting for the METO 06z-

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
