A dull day today with rain falling moderate / heavy at times from around 10:30am, still raining now but lighter with occasional heavier burst and also a few hail mixed in - Temperature getting cooler now 3.5C - Outlook: Rain will clear away South soon, then largely dry and clear, although some showers are likely to spread into northern and western coasts(us!). Cold with frost forming and perhaps some fog patches as well. Mostly light winds, moderate northwesterly on coasts. Minimum temperature -1 °C.

A dry night last night but with a moderate SW breeze and a good deal of high cloud, this just prevented an air frost but not a ground frost, the 8th this month. By 0630 stratus had lowered onto the hills giving thick fog, this lifted by 1000 and the rest of the morning and the early afternoon was dry and cloudy.

Intermittent light rain arrived by 1400 and became moderate at times by late afternoon, accompanied by thick fog again between 1430 and 1700, and eventually turning to sleet around 1800 as the wind veered N and the temp' began to fall.

The sleet had turned to light wet snow by 1900.

Woke up to a lovely ice rink everywhere with thick frost on the roofs, cars, trees, grass etc and white ice all over the roads and it looked like winter! - something the southwest needs at the moment. Then it went downhill with increasing cloud and rain this afternoon which has now stopped. A high of 6.0C after a low of -2.7C.
