Another air frost overnight -1 currently, pavements around here still a nightmare with ice and snow.A large amount of snow melted sunday night into monday but still we have some gardens around here under an inch of snow.

The local golf course still completely white, the best cold spell in my area since my schooldays in the 80's.

Another freezing night and cloudless skies.

And another fun fall off my bike on the ice that covers absolutely everything this morning. Unlike the drunken fall on Sat night, it wasn't funny this morning. Despite how nice it all looks and how great it is to have a real winter, I'll be glad of milder conditions simply to avoid my journey doubling in time & trebling in danger.

After the temperature initially dropped below freezing last night –0.4c, giving an air frost, the temperature slowly began to rise later in the night to around 2c as a south westerly wind brought increasing cloud, although a few more clear periods followed allowing a continuation of a ground frost. The 24 hour period minimum temperature however was as low as –4.4c and the maximum temperature of 3.2c was reached at the end of the 24 hour period ending at 09:00hours. At observation, overcast and rather damp, with the still frozen ground thawing. The morning and afternoon saw the overcast and dull conditions persist with some light to moderate rain during the afternoon and evening. Still on the cold side for early December, but less cold than recently, maximum temperature 5.3c, maximum wind gust 15mph, SW.
