Until the last half an hour it's been a sparkling, sunny and cold day with icy surfaces only becoming safe around midday. However showers are now moving down from the N/NW and there 's a brisk NNW wind now too.

Max so far of 6c, 5c at the moment and I'm wondering if anything wintry will fall !

Sunny periods here with the temp currently at 3.0c and a NW wind averaging 18 mph.

The remnants of lying snow are showing remarkable persistence, my own garden is still 80% covered with about 2cm of frozen snow ( although the general landscape has only 1% cover ) and the whole hillside on which I live is still about 20% snow covered, but it does face east and any early afternoon sunshine is either very oblique or non existant.

If we are to believe the old weather lore there will definitely be more to 'take away the bones'

A mostly sunny day in Norwich but it clouded over at around lunchtime, thereafter sunny intervals. A heavy shower between 3:30 and 4pm, brought some sleet and graupel on its forward edge, but after that just rain. Temperature at 2C, so it's pretty marginal out there, wouldn't have to get much colder to see some of the white stuff.

Yeah great weather, frosty in places all day. Temperature never rose above 3.5c according to my car. With having such a close proximity to the north sea this bodes well for the coming winter.
