Where's your poll my man??! :) Wintry showers on a stiff westerly breeze. Hopefully some snow by the morning (in my dreams!).
Robbie, i have discussed this with a few others before. since the board changed some of the topics the old weather reports topic seemed to be merged with a general chat topic too. then all of a sudden someone decided to add a poll to the topic as well :) the trouble i have with the poll is

  1. sometimes less then 50% of posts use the poll, sometimes not even 30%
  2. unless you are posting later in the day, how can you say whether you liked the days weather?
  3. with so many threads open discussing the models/current weather/mood/etc etc is there any need for a poll?

:):)

A warm welcome on this chilly but clear winter's morning. Nice sunrise appearing here over Bristol, the Sun picking-out aeroplane contrails in various shades of ever-brightening orange. Not much cirrus about so the sunrise is not all that spectacular.

Promising signs of a Scandi High trying to build around Christmas, but the charts may not be as promising nearer the time.

Wirral is a strange place. Here at the moment it is 6.7C

The whole east side of Wirral is hovering around 5.8 to 6.0C

and the Northwest corner, West Kirby and Thurstaston are currently 7.7 to 8.0C

Such differences for a small peninsula!!

Quite cool for our warm spell. Only 4.5C and sleety rain just started (definitely ice in it so probably snow on high north pennines - Alston, Allenheads?).

Can I just assure that those who doubt 10C, it will occur, however the maximum temperatures applies for today until midnight, and there is 10 hours for 10C to occur. The temperature occurring is no different to what it was forecast to be at this stage.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
