Mainly overcast conditions through the night have prevented the temperature falling off to much, air minimum only 5.7c and 1.2c on the grass, so not far off from a ground frost. Currently at reading time, some cloud breaks, dry with a light to moderate NE wind. Noticeably cooler conditions arrived shortly after observation with the temperature falling off a degree or so. The day continued dry, but overcast and felt rather cool in the moderate easterly wind. Maximum temperature 6.3c.

Hoping for it to start snowing 'humble pie' for all the rampers that were on here last week banging on about the 'big freeze' that was going to hit this week, then next week, then first week of new year............. catch my drift ? Clear and sunny after a colder night down to 3.5c. It's now 4.1c and only 13c in this room - knew I shouldn't have switched off the heating completely!

Glad the prediction of endless grey skies didn't amount to too much round here with only yesterday being mostly cloudy.

Ground frost made a return last night with a grass min' of -0.2c but the air temp' stayed well above zero at 1.1c.

Just back from our Boxing Day walk along the beach, and I can confidently confirm that it's chilly.

Its a white Boxing Day here in sw France, after some morning sleet and rain its now turned to heavy snow. I'm only at 1,200 feet here but the Pyrenees look like getting lots of new snow.

After a hideous couple of days with almost sunshine today has been the opposite with clear blue skies and lovely bright sunshine.

I just drove up from Newcastle to Aberdeen and went through some fairly interesting weather. Overcast dull and dry untol near Dundee then some occasional rain with the temperature at 5c,then the temp dropped to 4c in a heavier shower and then the sky started to clear and the thrmometer dropped to 2c only to rise quite quickly back to 4c and then down againto 2c-as it is the cars thermometer I suppose it could be faulty but within 45 minutes the rain on the car had frozen under the clear sky.
