-7c currently, clear skies ,after some overnight fog left everything coated in hoar frost, outstandingly beautiful and a lovely frozen base for future snowfall.Snow would be the icing on the cake although travelling to Glasgow on a weekly basis down the A9 may become more interesting !!!!! and even accessing the alternitive the train up here may become difficult if the models verify and we get substantial snowfall. I predict these models will verify on a purely non scieintific basis as I am comitted to these travelling arrangements for the next 2 months so my forecast is that we are in for a very snowy January and February

Clear skies, cold and frosty here, currently -0.2.

As an aside I've noticed that the temperatures for my area on Netweather are frequently 3-5 degrees warmer than actual during cold spells (current forecast 5 degrees) yet the met office are usually about right, I just wondered why this is..........sorry probably not the place to ask this

Haven't looked at the Wx station yet but there's still thick frost on cars, rooves and the ground at 9.35 hrs and no sign of a thaw. Interesting to see it's forecast to get even colder this week !

An overcast and breezy night which kept the temperature above freezing though the cloud has been breaking up so far today and its now

    quite sunny.

The suns always very blinding at this time of year because of it being so low in the sky.

Fine and sunny here for the 3rd day in a row, but still with a cold, penertating wind. Overnight min was -0.4c, (so yes an air frost even down here in the sub-tropics) then up to 2.7c at noon, but feeling more like -6c in the wind.

    • August thunderstorms bring the risk of flooding and disruption

Any rain should be welcome looking at the parched ground but intense downpours aren't enough. Thunderstorms bring the risk of flash flooding as the rain hits the hard, dry ground. Read the full update here
