Something quite strange has happened... the sky has cleared! Just in time for sunset too although we did get the odd glimmer of hazy sunshine. Temps already starting to fall off - now 1.1c so a 0.7c drop in 2 hours which for lately is a significant fall. Shows just how stable it's been here of late!

As the sun starts to disappear now, that was the fifth consecutive day with pretty much unbroken sunshine on the Sussex coast. Expecting the temperatures to start falling rapidly now.

overcast still but the temperature is now down to -0.1C and the dewpoint -3.3C; a max in the early hours of 1.4C, since 0800 the max has been just 1.4C again, so a pretty cold day here.

It really would be nice to see the sun!

Temperature as up to 1C at 11.30am however, after lunch at 1.30 it had gone down to -1 and before I left work twenty minutes ago it was -3, this was in a dip at work though in a field, however, it was interesting how much the temperature dropped after lunch. Had to break the ice for the sheep to drink three times today.

We're finally started to join in on this 'cold spell' with a current temperature of 0.9C.

It dropped to 1.9C around midnight, but then remained around 3C until 10am when it cooled off to around what it is now.

This cloud is driving me mad though. We've only managed 2 airfrosts all month, the last of which was on the 12th! They werent even hard frosts either, as the absolute minimum temperature was -0.4C!

It might have been below average, but this December has been totally pants here. 2 air frosts, no sun, no snow. no gales. Just almost relentless anticyclonic gloom.

I really must get myself a new weather station...or a thermometer at least. I must remember next time I go to maplins.

Anyway it's been a lovely pretty calm winter's day here. Nice hazy sunshine. Still some frost about but oddly it doesn't feel as cold as that.

Wow, maximums of -5 in parts of Scotland! :) Potentially lower than -15 tonight too...not a bad freeze at all!

Here it is still (don't laugh) +1.5º under relentlessly overcast skies after a max of 1.7º and min of 0.1º.

I don't know the current temp because am at a friend's house.

It's been a dull, bitterly cold day and at 13.30 the temp was 1.3c so I imagine it's either stayed the same or more likely begun to fall away again.
