Comet C/2007 N3 Lulin is approaching us.

It is in the constellation Libra close to Scorpius right now at Magnitude 8.

It will make it’s closest approach Feb 28, 2009, at 0.41 AU and should brighten to a visual magnitude of 5 visible to the unaided eye.

Ever since the ‘eruption’ of comet Holmes I like to pay attention to anything passing near and hope for another terrific show.

If we get good conditions over the next weeks I’ll try for a photo and post it.

Regardless, when it gets near there should be a good view from binoculars up.

Well, you'd have to get up at 6am and have a pretty clear view of the south-eastern horizon to have a chance of seeing it right now. Come the end of February though, it will be much higher up and during the evening as it moves into Leo. It will also be easy to find as it goes very close to Saturn and then the bright star Regulus.

LOL, I'm in the category also. I don't mind staying up late into the wee hour's to see something, but I'm not a big fan of rolling my rear out of bed early in the morning.

Anyway, here is a quick chart I put together for the sky looking from London Feb 28 at 21.00hrs local time.

Actually there should be very little difference anywhere in the British Ilse's

Comet Lulin is directly SW, altitude is 45. I have it circled in white. As Osbourne One-Nil pointed out it's proximity to Regulus and Saturn.

Actually, seeing as it doesn't get light until about 8am here, I might well take a look sooner than that.

    ouch!!!!!! below the belt
I can't really talk - I'm an Ipswich fan. I'm grateful to you lot for putting the pressure on Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarch though.

I'm surprised you can sleep at night being a Forest fan, so I'd have thought you'd know!

Could be worse and he could be Gray Wolf and not had a sleep in century's.
