thanks for those meteo, many on here would love their town/city to look like Madrid in those photos, and to have its heat in the summer!

    Thank you guys! hehe.

The last heavy snowfall was three years ago (26th februry of 2006), it does not snow every days like that hehe.

Snow days for year in Madrid 4/5 days.

I think the heavy falling snow one with the

I just read about this on the BBC news, and I was thinking - why when we're so much further north and endure rubbish wet summers can't we get a proper winter - with more snow than even in Spain?! Even my cousins in Corpus Christi in Texas had a five inch snow event on Christmas Day in 2004! Makes me wish I could migrate south sometimes, they get it all :-)

Anyway those are some lovely pictures in real heavy snow. The red umbrella picture captures it best for me, it has real artistic merit, good composition. Well done!

Great pics: is that the park down by the Prado? Brought back memories of walking through there - along that very same straight path if I'm not mistaken - in 40C heat (at midnight!!!) in July 1988 (I think).

    Hi guy!

40º in midnight is imposible hehe, perhaps in Rabat or Argel, but in Madrid is imposible hehe.

The warm record in Madrid is 40,0º (20th august of 1993). The night temperatures in Madrid are under 20º in Summer.

Hehehe, friend, The snow is not rare in Spain, is typical in winter.

    Thank you!

Great pics MM, it makes me very jealous :D , to see that much snow again *sigh*

Well the way I see it, we're on an island in the Atlantic so we don't have a large land land mass to cool us down like your cousins do and those in Europe and more exposed to Atlantic influences, plus we have more of a direct influence from the gulf stream I think, but it is unfair though you're right :(

Meteo Madrid, Thank for posting the lovely snow photos, I have changed the header of the thread, we tend to have the date notation dd/mm/yy, and by putting 9th Jan, this clarifies it. Sorry to be a pain, and them those snowy photos coming, even if it does make me jealous.

    Amazing, excellent photos.

London can't get that depth of snow and look how much further north it is.

If the UK was surrounded with land we would do much better.

Thanks for sharing those, I agree about the red umbrella photo, very artistic and very good composition

I bet the Madrid altitude helps also. Wikipedia claims 700m ASL, which really isn't much altitude, but in a dry continental climate the lapse rates will be steeper and it becomes more significant.

Looking again .. the original 'red umbrella pic' that

we all have praised is no longer there (for me anyway)

Maybe you are now protecting your image and will be using it as a

card or to sell ?

Excellent photos Meteo. Certainly nice to look at, especially now that the milder atlantic weather is sweeping in after our long cold spell!
