A wintry mix of rain, sleet and snow here is Ashby de la Zouch.

Indeed. Turned to Wet Snow as I just arrived at Tesco at about 8.10 this morning.

Temps between home and Ashby between 1-2oC (although whilst 2oC when I left this morning, was 1oC when I got home).

Upon leaving, ppn of sleet (predominantly rain) and turning to wet snow as above.

PPN now stopped.

A thoroughly wet, cold, dark & miserable monday morning - perfect weather for the most depressing monday of the year!

Gladly it's brightened up a bit and I've eaten a bacon cob (sorry 'roll' for those outside the midlands!) so all is well again.

3.2c the low now 3.6c.

So if you call a roll a cob, do you call corn, corn on the roll? "mingin" here  dull and chilly at 2.5c. Snow? I doubt it!

3.7º, wet with a light covering of snow above about 2000ft. Apparently my cloud base is 417ft. I've no idea how the weather station works this out, but it might have it wrong today as I'm at 500ft already and I'm not in the cloud.

Something I can help with ! :D

Around piece of dough is a cob, if you use a rolloing pin over it, it becomes a bap and if you roll it to the shape of a finger, it becomes a roll. (Dickinson & Morris, Melton Mowbray baker for 5 years !) B) Useless I know and nowhere near topic !!

4.9c here currently here and like you said "mingin".

Well, it's a wee bit of a surprise eh?! I'm thinking that if this ppn band can do this to us at sea level or there abouts - then it's going to be a very interesting 48 hours! Even the main A Road outside my building now has an inch of snow on it... Calling all gritters!

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
