Heavy rain/gales? Well they got that monumentally wrong. I know Peter Gibbs said last night the rain hadn't really got going at 10pm last night in the SW, but they expected it to through the night. Expected atrocious conditions here this morning, but nothing of the sort. Just goes to show, even 6 hours out the models sometimes don't have a clue!

Cloudy damp start here but should brighten up soon from the North-West later on this morning, according to XCweather there has been sleet(or snow) around here although i don't see any evidence of any snow falling so rain or sleet must of fallen instead.

Not monumentally wrong, just slightly further south than you. Peter Giggs on News24 last night did actually say that he wasn't sure of the northern extent of the rain. Absolutely pouring down here, and it has been on-and-off thoughout the night. Still got another couple of hours worth to come looking at the radar. Just 4c and a strengthening wind.

Yes, we didn't get the big winds last night (max gust 48.0 mph, average 24.2 mph) but the rain was persistent and I recorded a record low on the Wx station this morning so I guess the centre passed right over our house! Plenty of flooding around the roads of Sussex and probably more to come for the next couple of hours.

Currently 2oC and ppn now pretty much stopped.

Was raining at 6am, but between then and 8am, a more pronounced mix of snow within (so sleet).

As the ppn cleared, the sleet turned more readily to wet snow.

Moderate rain since dawn. Temperature and dewpoint have fallen rapidly. Temp Down from 3.9c at 06:00 to 1.6c. Dewpoint is currently 0.0c and rain is turning increasingly to snow in a quite strong north west wind. Not settling. Rain band almost through so will not last for much longer. But nice to see nonetheless.

We have barely had any rain though, and this area had very deep blues/yellow on it, considerably further north than here too.
