Morning all,

Currently 4.0C (altho closer to 1.0C in the wind - coming from the East at 10knots) and overcast, but at least it has stopped raining! Temperature hasn't really changed much from about midday yesterday, but looks like it might get colder as the weekend goes on!

Wow, I really love this weather. This is classic "build up to an easterly" weather.

Its hazy, the wind is now due east, its brisk and its getting colder and colder. Low cloud already drifting in from the east, a taste of whats to come. Wonderful.

Hey Paul do you think we will see whiteout conditions in some areas not just higher ground?

Could well do, I wouldn't rule it out by any means. It doesn't usually take too much wind to create a blizzard effect, and with a fresh easterly and a heavy snow shower you wouldn't be seeing very far for sure.

  • Chilly with an increasing risk of frost

Once Monday's band of rain fades, the next few days will be drier. However, it will feel cool, even cold, in the breeze or under gloomy skies, with an increasing risk of frost. Read the full update here

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
