If you're looking for more info on the snow situation tonight and into tomorrow, NW forecaster Nick F has just posted a blog up about it:

http://www.netweather.tv/forum/index.php?s...p;#entry1451319

Can I also recommend our very own radar - hi-res, updated every 5 minutes and includes custom zooms, postcode zooms, weather type and lightning detection among other items!

At last it looks like i've got a stream of snow showers coming towards me.

Also whilst waiting for the radar updates go and view the GFS 18Z.

Have a look at thurs/fri and then look at the remainder of the run.

You will never see a better model run ever again IMO.

Screw them lol What about us! Nothing more than a flake all day.... a slight dusting ~.~ Watching the national news is depressing. Come on! Give us some!

Looking at the radar it would appear that Hull and the east riding might bet a wee bit shortly

It'll find some way to miss us, it always does

Still have a screenshot of the thunderstorms last summer.

Check this for a snow/TS shield:

I know I have seen it. Do you think that we might get more substantial sbow then aswell?

After a snow draught of just over 1 hour here.. showers are packing in once again.

Light snow beginning to fall. Bitterly cold, -1.2C. Feels soooo much colder.

It was an excellent run and if we were to get anything close to that then the country would surely come to a standstill!

... I think I will use my new Net-Weather Extra membership to inspect the charts in further detail until the bulk of showers on the east coast makes inroads inland.

Are the showers moving in a WSW direction? Hopefully this might ensure that there isn't a gap in the middle of two areas of showers once more !?

I agree with you Dave and have said words to that effect directly on the Model Thread. This next 48 hours could just be a starter before the main course.

Ohh, don't you just love weather watching when you are finally rewarded with what you have been seeking for so long. :D

Showers really beginning to intensify now around 50 miles off our shores.. by as early as midnight things are going to become much more interesting for Lincs, and the E Mids. :D

Yes the wind chill is quite considerable out there tonight. Locally down to -11 °C, actual temp -2.8 °C and light snow ensues.

Actually, I have been at the computer for a bit, so have just taken the time for a proper look out the window and our light scattering of snow from this afternoon's brief flurry has definitely been topped up in the past 20 minutes or so. Now a blanket of untouched powdery snow on all surfaces including pavements. If this continues even on and off all night, significant accumulations are likely by morning IMO, even for this area.

We have the first covering of snow of the winter here now from a heavy snow shower currently over us.

About time!

Temperature has fallen to 0.5C, so a little higher than Id like, but much better.

It's just perfection as far as I'm concerned. One for keeps. In your head that is because saving each and every frame commands too much time when we have a real time snow event to monitor.

Time to start getting excited folks.. if you have the NW radar look out to sea... last half hour the intensification has been quite substancial. Clear to see now why the Beeb and Meto are going for significant accumilations tonight in many Eastern areas.

I'm off to bed for a few hours.. was going to sleep until 4ish but might be back as soon as 2 or 3 looking at the latest developments.

Moderate snow falling here now... looks like the showers will be fairly frequent for this area throughout the night now.

Poor effort here so far in Sheffield. Very cold at -2.1 and what snow has fallen is either frozen to surfaces or blowing around on very frozen ground. This fell late afternoon. The Sheffield snow shield in full effect this evening.
