It does look like around 4ish inches in the back garden.

I believe if the temp drops even 1 degree this will be a far happier board .......not just us hill billies enjoying it

The thing that gets me is that Wolsingham isn't even that high up.

Don't think there is much chance of a degree drop in temperature, its risen that much since 7pm, from 1.1º to 2.1º. We had fine snow up until about then with slight new accumulations on the car windscreen etc.

Gods sake its 2.2 now. It is doing it on purpose.

Not particularly no, however as someone famously posted the snow knows it's in weardale....now who was that again? lol......the topographic of the area is such that we are surrounded by rather high ground so possibly that assists.....either that or I do a helluva good snow dance

Not much happening in Haxby - its still snowing but its incredibly wet and not laying so I've been for a drive!

Got to Bilbrough Top on the A64 and as it was laying I thought I best come home - hope it keeps it up! Infact anywhere outside and West of York Ring Road seems to be doing ok

Snowing moderately in Halifax now after an hour of graupel. Is this the start of something intensifying?

Just been outside to get some photos - there is 12cm on the roads/pavements and roughly 14cm on the grass. I tried to get a photo with the ruler but it was so blurred you can't make out a single number, so I'll do this first thing tomorrow :D

Take a look at the 930pm meto radar and then compare it with the 900pm

Anyone checked the radar?

Looks like I was wrong with it loosing intensity. There's a big difference in the 20.30 and 21.30 radars.

Also, what is orographic snowfall???

Crickey :D That's quite a dumping you've had there; I'd call that a good result.

It's still snowing and laying here. It's such a shame that I lost so much lying snow

to the earlier rain.

Let's not write this off guys, things are intensifying by the minute over Yorkshire, believe me, I have the 5 min radar :D

This may be a good night yet. It's 22.00 and we could have the snow for another 5 hours at least, it's moving much, much more slowly than it was.

Did i totally miss what you meant by the thread. Or (fingers crossed) you were pointing out the large intensification of GREEN possibly heading this way....

:D:D:D

Been heavy snow showers all day..... then the band of "Snow" was meant to be heading in but as soon as that came all weve seen is rain! Just my luck!

I am sooo annoyed because i was expecting heavy snow tonight..... suppose Sunderland should be excluded from the heaviest snowfall in 18 years :(

This rainfall is quite heavy in Newcastle now. Heaviest precipitation so far over the past few days . If only it was snow we would be talking at least 6 inches. Still a few inches on the ground still. Temps fluctuating between 1.5c-1.9c.

Its 2.4 here now! And still going up! No fluctuation. When will this heat ever end?

Sorry, been having the odd Brandy and probably seem a bit 'yonderly' :) Yup, I think I'll be checking both the 10 O'clock MetO Radar to see if that green grew bigger and sprouted a yellow (Pink???) core to it!!! and that 'plume's' progress into Holland.

http://meteocentre.com/analyse/map.php?hou...g=en&map=UK

if the wind/cloud roughly follows the isobars then the above will help 'plot' a possible course for it all.
