Gladly, the sun has melted a lot of the ice making for a less dangerous journey home. After the day I've had & the pint's I've needed to cope with it, it's probably a good job!

2.7c our max now falling away, so far 1.1c. Hoping not for another freeze as walking to work, bike and all, is a pain!

I presume that's the water content of the Snow TM. We got 11.7mm. It also rained on top of the snow leaving a thin layer of ice. It also meant only one door of my car opened.

After a slow thaw last night, the temperature fell to –3.3c under clearing skies, and as low as –5.0c on the snow, and with a moderate to fresh easterly wind, a penetrating moderate to severe frost, so very icy indeed this morning. Though a few centimeters of snow melted away in the short thaw, there was still a good cover of around 9cm of snow left at 09:00GMT.

The day saw good amounts of winter sunshine, but still very much on the cold side with 9cm of snow remaining frozen in shaded areas all day. Maximum temperature 1.8c. Maximum wind gust 25mph, ESE.

Highlighted snow depth in red, as in error i said 3.5cm in my first report this morning.

At 20:15.

Current sky conditions clear.

Wind force 3 ESE

Temperature -0.3c.

Lovely sunny cold day with a hagging easterly breeze, however, wasn't so happy to wake up to the two inch cover we had yesterday evening completely dissapear, unfortunately the mild sector cam overnight and thawed all the lying snow and being this far west we saw absolutely no snow.. still the fells look smashing in there winter coat, those fells ain't going to loose that coat for a long time yet..
