Snowy Somerset

It finally snowed in Somerset! It snowed on and off for most of yesterday afternoon and evening but the flakes were so small, we only managed 3 inches or so. I'm not complaining, this is after all Somerset, it's just wonderful to have some.

Went for a wander this morning; the church sits in fields about half a mile outside the village, back in the 14th century the villagers de-camped enmasse, up the hill, away from the plague. The deer popped up out of nowhere but I was so far away, this was the best I could get.

The lakes are the old Carp ponds which belonged to the Monks at Downside Abbey (the grand looking church in the distance). Couldn't resist the snow angel or the fox prints in the snow. The icicles are hanging outside my bedroom window

Thanks for the kind comments folks. I think we just got lucky around here with the amount, Mendip Hills did better than a lot of places locally, we even had another couple of inches or so overnight, last night.

I'm keeping everything crossed that the cold miraculously slips south a lot quicker than expected and we get a pasting tomorrow instead of rain/sleet; not sure we'll ever be able to compete depth wise with you lot oop North but hey, aim high I say.... Wish I was back home in the Cotswolds though, better chance there.

Some beautiful pictures there jethro. The countryside really did look amazing under the snow didn't it.
