Well the snow was laying on the ground and pavements until monday morning but since then it has melted fast leaving just the drifts against hedges and walls And of course the snowman is still standing tall albeit without a head <_<

15 days of snow cover though is not bad going.

Well we had 12 days of snow cover here and 10 days of complete cover roads pavements etc, But the mountains behind have patches left from the 20th of january and theyre not the highest just sheltered so there has been snow there since the 20th of january nearly a month

Went through Priddy on the way to Street via the delights of Wookey hole today.

Lots of fair sized snow patches on the tops and plenty of drifts ~ 1 - 3 feet in the shade of the walls took some pics but a bit misty so not good quality.

Temp ~ 7C

Mine has just melted completely now, there was only a small heap of snow left of him this afternoon and temps right now being 7c has melted him completely. Well the snowman lasted 15 days, he was becoming a part of the family!

Mine passed away today also. :winky:

Across the road there is a tiny lump of ice that will probably disappear tonight.

A local garden centre, at about 280m, had a small heap of snow at the bottom of their car park when I was there last Monday ( Feb' 23rd ); this started off as a heap about 7 feet deep where they'd shovelled the snow from the car park.

The heap was about the same size as that pictured by PTFD above and I'd imagine it's gone by now, estimated date of disappearance would be around 25th/26th.

Snowman here born 06/02/09 down to about 6" high prob gone by the morning.

Some patchy snow in shaded area of fields near Highworth also can see some drifts on hills above Junction 15 M4 and at Hackpen hill on way to Marlborough.

Alll that will be left to watch soon are the big piles left in the ASDA car park and in the shade of the dog track at Blunsdon.

Well if they can have their snow patch monitoring in Scotland why can't we have our version down here.

The Swindon dog track snow pile was still there yesterday allbeit about 2" high i took a photo on the phone which i'll post before this thread dies. Also a small pile remained in the Air balloon carpark halfway up the hill to Birdlip, Glos on Thursday.

Being a rather sad soul I actually videoed the digger as it cleared the snow from the lane and piled it over the gate !!! (I'll post it up if anyone else is as sad as me and wants to see it :o !!! )

The Swindon dog track snow pile still lives as does the Air ballon pub car park patch half way up to Birdlip!

Couldn't get a pic this morning as track gate is locked will try and sneak into the area on way home to take that desperately sad picture.

And as promised to Rain Rain Rain, here's proof of my sad snow obsession. Perhaps I should entitle this little film 'Birth of a pile' !!!:

Wow, i would love that very specific job!

Is that your driveway or a small road he is clearing? How deep was the snow there?

It's the lane into the village that runs past our house. It's a dead-end so the council never seem to bother with it, it's always the local farmer who ends up doing the job. The drifts weren't actually that deep (around 4ft), but they usually collect all down that 50 yard stretch so it ends up being quite a volume of snow to shift. Maybe next time we get a good fall I'll volunteer for the job !

Thanks for all the updates

Amazing snow is still around in early March given how mild it was last 2 weeks

Maybe if it hangs on for a bit more it can be topped up with fresh snow :unknw:
