If this rain band is supposed to hang around to deliver so much snow. Is it likely to mean a flood risk if it does come out of the sky as rain? :D

Agree with that if things stay the way they are, high ground could well be affected south of this but most of us live on low ground so quite useless really, however we should keep a check on reality here as these events seldom go to plan and will probably end up dissapointing everyone :D hope I'm wrong

Oh......I just looked at the 5 day map thing on the MetO site, for Bristol.

It shows, for tonight into tomorrow:

This evening........sleet

Midnight tonight..........snow

3am...........heavy snow

6am.........heavy snow

9am......sleet :(

12 noon.........rain :(:(

3pm..........heavy snow

6pm........nothing

night-time........heavy snow

Friday day-time........sleet

Friday night-time.........snow

Now, I don't want to appear ungrateful and greedy  , but won't the sleet and rain during Thursday morning wash away the snow?

:help::help:

What I want to know is, when they built the M4 did they mean for it to be used so often when reporting and forecasting the weather? This isn't the first time where its been the 'marginal' point

Unfortunately the lying snow only affects surface temps, the upper temps are the important point.

The Hadrian Wall for snow; that fell down, Berlin's was knocked down.....I'm game if anyone else is.

The METO says I currently should be 4c but we're actually 1c; I'm hoping that's an indication that the predicted sleet/rain will fall as snow. Like they say, there's no fool like an old fool..

Ha, yes it has been very traditional to use that road as a reference but often is the case that lows track in a very similar direction commonly and the M4 is conveinently in the right place otherwise you could say also Bristol to London if the road were'nt there
