Broken Camera Question

Hi everyone

Although it's not the most expensive camera in the world, my 'Fuji Finepix A500' is ideal for the few pictures that I take.

Unfortunately, though, my little lad got his hands on it, and now the focus lense appears to be stuck in the extended position.

Now, whenever I switch the camera on - it gives me a 'focus error message'.

Does anyone know of a fix for this, or should I just buy a new one?

Also, if I do need a new camera, can anyone recommend something that won't cost a lot of money. I'm not a regular photographer

and only need a camera for taking pics of the odd weather event and family occasions etc.

Though you are never supposed to do this be a bit brutal with it and twist/push the lens whilst switched on and 'zooming'. My old camera did this the first time we used it (another finepix) and I feared the worst but a quick twist/push clicked it back into place.

Awhile ago now but if you have to buy a new one look at www.camerapricebuster.co.uk first ! I believe there is also a .com for out of towners. They dont sell actually sell anything so I hope it is OK to post it !?
