Unexpected fine snow on a very light SW-W wind here. The swing to the N hasn't happened yet.

Temp just above zero, DP 0. Overcast and it looks set in.

We had light snowfall here last night, lasted for about 15 minutes, gave a very very small dusting on top of what we had Mon & Tues. Alot of clouds overhead now.

Is this expected next snow event tonight/early hours Thurs?

A good couple of inches over night here, on top of what hadn't melted it then froze.

There is still more than 90% snow cover left this morning with depths still around 7cm. There has also been another light snowfall overnight, but only enough to add a slight dusting. The temperature fell to –1c overnight, though the minimum 24 hour reading was lower at –3.2c.

    24-hour extremes

    Maximum temperature 1.6°C

    Minimum temperature –3.2°C

    Minimum temperature on snow –4.8°C

    Rainfall total = trace.

    Yesterday, 03 February 2009

After a slow thaw last night, the temperature fell to –3.3c under clearing skies, and as low as –5.0c on the snow, and with a moderate to fresh easterly wind, a penetrating moderate to severe frost, so very icy indeed this morning. Though a few centimeters of snow melted away in the short thaw, there was still a good cover of around 9cm of snow left at morning observation. The day saw good amounts of winter sunshine, but still very much on the cold side with the snow remaining frozen in shaded areas all day. Maximum temperature 1.6c. Maximum wind gust 25mph, ESE.

A gradual thaw today but 100% snow cover remains on grass while the nearby countryside, including the Western edge of Salisbury Plain, looks wonderful  .

Quite abright day with hazy sunshine at times, the temperature is 2.8c (maximum so far has been 3.0c) with humidity at 82% and a gentle SE breeze.

Milder that expected here today, we've reached 5C this afternoon and nearly all the snow is gone in my area. There is still quite a lot left on the hills nearby though. I am far more likely to remember this spell of weather for the amount of snow rather than low temperatures- in fact temperatures haven't been that low here at all, no ice days in this current spell and no notably cold nights with -2C being the lowest temperature.
