Wow what a forecast for my location from Look E. Mentioned the chance the snow could remain in Peterborough area from tomorrow morning right up until Friday as the band of precip moves back SE. However I remain uncertain due to the disagreement with the UKMO/GFS although the UKMO 12Z does indicate temps no higher than 1C for my location. Seems the general theme for tomorrow morning is snow N of London but this turning to rain for many except possibly N Cambs. However Suffolk/Essex is only likely to see rain.
evening Dave and everyone, i am not sure how far south the ppn/snow will come tomorrow. there is a lot of uncertainty from the Met O and others and looks like SE London will see rain rather then snow

Glad you liked my cap Dave!

Should be good for our locations if it comes off like that. Personally I'm more optimistic now for at least a few hours of snow tomorrow morning.

Beyond that it may turn to sleet/rain after 8am but then Julie did mention the possibility of more snow for our locations later on.

I have a strange feeling about this..... We still have 2/3" of lying snow where it has been untouched by human hands/feet and also the sun, temps are already down to 1.2 deg and the dewpoint is -3.2. it just feels 'old skool'. I am sure the snow/rain border will be 10 miles either side of what is forecast, so I'm going for rain here and if it turns out to be snow I'll be happy, rather than hope for snow and be disappointed when it turns out to be only rain!!!!

this is all so marginal i wouldnt listen to any forecasts at the moment for any particular region. if it falls as snow it'll be wet snow, if its rain it'll just be wet. its a nowcast job, even for high ground.

thing is, where is the precip going to come from? to me, the front looks fragmented, weakening and missing us west (even for me at this stage). should we see it pepping up, then? I don't see anything for tonight at this stage, and probably rain tomorrow for me!

To be honest I don't really want anymore snow here on the Sutton / Surrey borders we still have a white blanket here 4 or 5 inches deep. Almost all side roads are sheet ice having not been gritted, the pavements are deadly and I have seen at least 3 or 4 patches of blood today where people have fallen. I rescued an elderly gentleman who's mobility scooter got stuck in the ice (on the pavement) before it ran out of power and took him home. What gets me is that people just ignored this guy who was about 80 in just his shirt more interested in deriding me for stopping and blocking their vehicles not one got out to help.

Having lived in Kent for the past 7 yrs before returning to the outskirts of the smoke the last few days has been a real eye opener. The local London councils lack the ability to cope with severe weather and the majority of people in London lack the mentality to deal with it being far too selfish.

I was looking forward to the snow but very disappointed now, I fear more snow as it will just mean more blood on the pavements and if they fall in the road someone will run them over!

No Dunkirk spirit here unless of course you count those in German uniforms firing at the beaches, there's plenty of them :)

Well there seems to be a lot of ppn over Nantes at the moment and the wind direction suggests it's heading for London and the SE!!!! Temps around -1 at midnight.......just maybe???

thing is that the factors for snow are not good. dew points may need to drop a tiny bit yet

I agree, it seems like the bands of ppn over france are getting more intense. I don't know whether the cold air will reach the london area in time for it to be snow, but it definitely looks possible...It really seems that this could go either way...but with the temp forecasted to be 7C tomorrow in london, looks like anything that does fall will be short-lived! I guess it all depends on where the northern system meets the southern system.

Still around 20cm in the shaded untouched areas of snow. (28cm at its best Monday)

The house roofs that have been in the sun are about the only places where its not white still.

It would be such a shame if the rain comes and spoils the fun.

I have to agree. i've had to cope with sheet ice and compacted snow for enough days now. the road isnt gritted and the pavements are treacherous ice rinks. i said earlier today a spot of rain would do me just fine and get rid of this icy mess. even sleet would help. anyway it looks like temps are set to rise a little in the se, albeit briefly

In my view the uppers suggest rain I'm afraid!

The low pressure will have to stay a fair bit south of what is projected for there to be any chance at all.

I hope I am wrong!!
