Went out for another ramble this evening, just as the sun was setting. Made for a beautiful scene, and really brought home to me just why snow is so magical !

Heading up to the moors:

Thanks for the comments everyone, sometimes I really do feel very lucky to be able to wander for ten minutes and end up in scenery like this. I do worry sometimes that pics like these don't really do justice to the amazing views, but hopefully they do give some idea at least !

Just thought I'd add an update - two more from today - topped up this morning, and very little melt yet, so still a good amount of snow around here :nonono:

If no-one objects I might try and keep up a bit of running report on this to see how long the snow lasts in any appreciable amount up here

Oh love the sunset ones, Its my fave part of the day after a snow event, when the skies are clear and you get a beautiful red sky. Was similar here yesterday, sub zero, no wind, beautiful sunset, and loads of smokey chimneys......looked just how a Febuary night should do

Really nice pics PTFD, very atmospheric. I love the sunset ones in particular - and who would want to live far away from hills? We are lucky to be so close to them in the N :D

I've just got home to Slawit down the hill, we've had 1 foot of laying snow....the most in Yorkshire apparently.

Brilliant pics Pennine, i'll be up in the old quarry tomorrow hopefully....very little has melted and i doubt much more will.

Good question, it's owned a lot of that land by The Earl of Dartmouth....but it's very close to Saddleworth moor and Rishworth Moor.
