How come if the winds are from the east the showers are travelling north?

Because right now there is a low pressure system sitting to the South West of the UK which is bringing up a band of precip from France. Low pressure systems spin anti clockwise so you can picture what is happening...

Just turned to snow here... actually went out with a torch! haha. Turned pretty cold to. Winds coming from the ENE, pressure 985 and a crazy 21.2mm of PPN, which would of been about 20cm of snow assuming a 10:1? Damn.

The sky here is completely orange and the garden looks just like it did on Monday and if it keeps going like this it's gonna look like it did on Tuesday morning. I'm in shock, not sure how much of this excitment I can take.

And what was a gap at 21.00 on radar has filled in so possibly developing further.

About half an inch already this evening.

Last post until tomorrow - when I won't re-read everything posted since now  .

Enjoy everyone, and if it doesn't snow for you do try to learn why amidst your frustration B) .

heavy sleet in Bournemouth. Temp 2c dp 0.5, T850 about -2. Temps 5 or 6 in Channel Is so I expect them to rise here before too long.

(is this SW or Central S? Not sure?!)

Just a quickie from me, maybe back later... It's chucking it down with snow here, started with just grains an hour or so ago, now heavy snow. Sincerely hope it doesn't turn to rain.

Us folks in North Bristol will obviously miss the worse of it.... seems to be trend so far. Does look interesting though, only just logged in to see the Warnings etc, hope that band expands and pushes a bit west. Wouldn't put to much faith in the Meteo Radar...
